Nigerian players have began to crash out at the on-going Lagos Open Tennis at the ongoing 19th Lagos Open Tennis Championship at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.
In the men’s singles second round games decided on Thursday, Joseph Imeh Uboh retired in his match against seventh seed, Garanganga Takanyi from Zimbabwe.
The match ended 3-0.
Top seed and Tunisia’s Mansouri Skander beat Nigerian, Idoko Emmanuel, 7-5, 6-4.
In the women’s category, Nigerian Blessing Samuel was humbled by Samir Sandra from India by 6-0, 6-0.
Quadre Barakat Oyinlomo, however, stretched her opponent, Riya Bhatia before she bowed to the superior power of the Indian player in a tough duel that ended 6-2, 2-6, 2-6.
In other games, number four seed, Pichler David from Austria, defeated American, Bushamuka William, in straight set of 6-1, 6-0 on Court 7 in a match that lasted 51 minutes.
On Court 5, Indian Goveas Aryan, number eighth seed, pummelled Cheruiyot Kevin from Kenya 6 -3,6-2, just as Behrain’s Setkic Aldin defeated Indian Chaurasia, Yash 6-3,6-1.
