Nigerian whiz kid, Semi Ajayi, has signed a permanent deal with Arsenal.
The defender confirmed on his Twitter feed that he is signing a two-year deal with the Gunners, a club he has been on trial with since August, with the Addicks releasing him from his contract one year early.
Ajayi, who was given birth to at Crayford, is also eligible to play for Nigeria.
Ajayi lifted a trophy last season, helping Charlton’s under 21 side win the Professional Development League 2, South League.
The six foot, two inches defender has been on trial with Arsenal for over a month and scored a close range volley in his first match for the under 21’s win over Blackburn.
Speaking on his Twitter handle, Semi Ajayi said: “Delighted to announce that I have officially signed for @Arsenal FC. Can’t wait to see what the next two seasons here have in store for me.
“It was sad to end my ten year spell with Charlton this summer but I can’t speak highly enough of all the wonderful people I met during my ten years there.”
