The Nigerian Ambassador to Senegal, Katyen Jackden, paid a surprise visit to the Flying Eagles camp at the Hotel Al Afifa after the team’s superlative display against their Congo counterparts on Wednesday.
Speaking at the hotel situated at Dakar, Plateau, Medina, Rue Jules Ferry, the ambassador commended the team for making the country proud in the two group games and also qualifying for the U20 World Cup in New Zealand later in the year.
Ambassador Jackden assured the team that the Nigerian High Commission would continue to support it in the quest to win the African title in Senegal.
She said: “You have proven to be good ambassadors and we are happy about your comportment on and off the pitch.
“I was at the stadium to see your previous games and we are very impressed with your display.
“We however assure that you will all the support that is required to lay your hands on the title.
“Senegal is like a home for Nigerians and that is why you have a lot people trouping to cheer you to victory at the stadium.
“You are going to enjoy more of this support because we have a lot of Nigerians here in Dakar that are residents and also come for businesses from home.
“We just want to encourage you to remain focused and by his grace, glory shall be ours.”
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles players and officials on Wednesday were served some Nigerian delicacies such as eba, amala, semovita and egusi soup courtesy the Nigerian High Commission in Senegal.
