A PDP Chieftain Chinyeaka Ohaa, has debunked media report of participating in Labour Party (LP) Enugu East Senatorial primaries to select a replacement for late Oyibo Chukwu.
Ohaa, an ex-Federal Permanent Secretary, who is popularly known as “Odalije – The Man of the People”, said he was not and never a member of Labour Party.
Chief Emeka Okeke, Head of Odalije Group, said this in a statement he issued to newsmen in Enugu Monday.
It would be recalled that the Labour Party conducted a primary at the weekend for the election of a candidate to take the place of late Chukwu, a Labour Party Candidate for Enugu East Senatorial Zone.
Chukwu was brutally murdered within Enugu metropolis on February 22, two days to the February 25 National Assembly elections.
Okeke said that the group’s attention had been drawn to the spurious story making the rounds in some sections of the social media that their principal, Oha, participated in Enugu East LP Senatorial primaries to select a replacement for the late Chukwu.
According to him, to set the record straight, Ohaa did not participate, neither should he have participated, nor would he ever participate, in the Labour Party primaries for the selection of a candidate to take the place of Chukwu.
“At all material times, Ohaa remains a member of the PDP and not the Labour Party.
“It would be recalled that Sir Ohaa to underscore his commitment to the noble ideals of PDP, besides being a member of PDP Presidential Campaign Council, converted his previous gubernatorial campaign office at 37, Park Avenue, GRA, Enugu, to Atiku Presidential Campaign Office for the 2023 Presidential Election.
“Ohaa, a loyal PDP man, is irrevocably committed to ensuring that Dr Peter Mba, the PDP Governorship Candidate and other PDP candidates, win the March 11, 2023, elections,” he said.
Okeke said that unknown to the purveyors of the fake news, Chinyeaka Ohaa was not even in Nigeria at the time of his purported participation.
He said: “He is presently in London to attend the ceremony for the enrollment of his son, Dr Kelechi Ohaa, to the (UK) Royal College of Surgeons of England billed for Monday, March 6.
“Against the foregoing, we wish, therefore, to state, in clear and unmistakable terms, that Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa is not a member of the Labour Party and did not participate in any Labour Party primaries as stated in the unintelligent publication.”
