The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, has said Nigeria needed Executive Order 6 to combat corruption.
Arkwright said this on Monday on a Channels TV programme.
The Executive Order, signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, became controversial over the weekend when the Presidency announced that over 50 persons were on a list of those banned from travelling outside the country.
Arkwright, however, said the Order would assist in the fight against graft in the country though he refused to comment on the travel ban list.
He said: “I’ve heard that this is an anti-corruption measure.
“It’s not for me to say who should or should not be on the list.
“But what I would say is that it’s very important in continuing this fight against corruption and rooting out corruption where it is happening.”
