Nigeria House Project Committee seeks NFF partnership ahead of Russia 2018 World Cup

The committee, led by its consultant, Mohammed Abdullahi, during a visit to NFF on Friday in Abuja, said the committee would make use of the World Cup to fulfill its mandate.

The Nigeria House Project Committee is partnering with the Nigeria Football Federation to showcase the country’s socio-economic features at the upcoming Russia 2018 World Cup.
The committee, led by its consultant, Mohammed Abdullahi, during a visit to NFF on Friday in Abuja, said the committee would make use of the World Cup to fulfill its mandate.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the committee has the mandate of exposing to foreigners the beauty of the country through sports events.
Abdullahi said: “The World Cup is one of the biggest sports events we have globally, because of the number of people it brings together and we don’t want to be left out of it.
“We want to show the world who we are and the potentials we have, not only in terms of sports prowess but our culture, cuisine and human resources.
“It is also a form of match-making, where people meet counterparts for business meetings.
“We are in touch with the Nigerian Embassy in Russia and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the host nation to mobilise the business community to come and see what we are showcasing.
“That is why we have come to see you and to have a robust Team Nigeria supporting the Super Eagles.’’
Abdullahi stated these while addressing the NFF management team led by the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi.
On his part, Sanusi assured the committee of the federation’s support, adding that the group should work within the stipulated rules set by FIFA.
He said: “Anything that can promote Nigeria to the outside world is what we welcome. All that is needed to support you will be provided as long as it does not affect some of our rules.
“We will not bring in any competitive brand that contradicts that of our sponsors so as to avoid breaching our contract with them.
“ We will also wait for your official letter so that we look at what you want us to do for you.
“If there are areas that will go contrary to the expectations of the organisers, we will advise you on it.
“We will also communicate with the Nigerian Embassy in Russia, because this programme will not go well without their assistance.’’
