Nothing has happened to jeopardise the planned international friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt, billed for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on April 12, so says the Nigeria Football Federation.
NFF’s General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu, said on Tuesday that there was no truth to the report in a section of the media that the high-profile international friendly had been called off.
“We have an agreement with the organisers of the match in Abu Dhabi on April 12, and nothing has happened to change that. They have not communicated anything to the contrary and we are in regular contact and we still spoke with them about the match on Tuesday evening.” said Amadu.
There was widespread hysteria after some persons dropped speculation concerning the match’s cancellation on social networking sites, but Amadu said preparations for the match would go ahead as all arrangements are intact.
Ahmadu said: “There is no cancellation.
“Our team is in camp and we are aware that the same Match Agent involved in this one organized the matches between Egypt and Tanzania and between Egypt and Chad most recently.
“The Super Eagles will definitely honour the match with the Pharaohs in Abu Dhabi on April 12.”
Amadu also confirmed that the Eagles have another date against Peru in May.
