Niger Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Abdulmalik Cheche says the State Government has approved N80 million for the renovation of the Police Barracks that was recently destroyed by rainstorm.
Cheche made this known on Thursday in Minna when he was addressing newsmen.
He said that the project would go a long way in providing decent accommodation for the officers and men of the police.
Cheche said that the state government had also spent N328 million on the rehabilitation of Tegina – Kagara road, to ease transportation of people, goods and services.
The commissioner said that the Federal Government had directed Salini Construction Company to commence work on the Minna-Suleja road.
Similarly, Hajiya Fatima Madugu, the Commissioner for Education, said that additional six Technical and Vocational schools in three zones would be captured in the “whole school approach project of the 2017 budget’’.
She said that six boarding schools in each senatorial district and 30 secondary schools would also be captured in the 2017 budget.
According to Madugu, the governor has directed the Ministry of Education to include in its budget, the provision for car loan to school principals and motorcycle loan to head teachers of government schools.
She said that the loan would improve the lives of teachers and their productivity.
Also, Alhaji Haliru Zakari, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, said that the state government had resolved to reduce the fees for obtaining Certificate of Occupancy.
He said that urban dwellers would now pay N15, 000 as against the N127, 000 they paying in the past, while those in rural areas would pay N5,000, adding that the reduction period is six months.
According to him, this will encourage land owners to obtain legal documents at affordable rate and improve the state Internally Generated Revenue.
