The death of the Kogi State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Abubakar Audu, has been described as shocking and depressing by the Niger State chapter of the party.
In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Jonathan Vatsa, on Monday in Minna, the APC in Niger State stated that the death of Audu was very painful, especially at the time the party was apparently coasting to victory in the last governorship election in the state.
The party condoled with the family, people of the state and APC family in the state over the death.
Vatsa stated in the statement that it was very depressing for the state and the party to lose a visionary leader like Audu, whose developmental strides remained indelible in the anal of the history of Kogi State.
The statement added: “It is most lethargic that after the rigours of campaign and we lose a political colossus like Prince Abubakar Audu by time the victory is in view and we needed his experience in providing the desired leadership for the people of Kogi state.
“We in the APC family in Niger state pray that God grants him eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
