The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday approved the appointment of former Super Eagles Coach, Shuaibu Amodu, as its National Technical Director while, veteran Coach, Kashimawo Laloko, and former Coach James Peters would serve as Assistant National Directors.
Rising from its meeting at the Glass House Secretariat, Abuja, the Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation approved the recommendation of the Technical Sub-Committee for the appointment of Shuaibu, Laloko and Peters.
The NFF Executive Committee also approved the programmes and preparation plans of the Super Eagles submitted by the Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi, and those of the Flying Eagles and the Beach Soccer National Team ahead of upcoming matches and championships.
A statement at the end of the meeting said: “The Executive Committee assured Nigerians that it is working hard and in harmony with Coach Stephen Keshi to ensure Nigeria’s qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals, and also to guarantee a credible outing at the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013.
“The Committee also resolved that Nigeria will now participate in the qualifying series for the 2014 African Nations Championship, in order to encourage and give opportunity to home-based professional players who has been part of Coach Stephen Keshi’s rebuilding process all along.
“Committee praised the exemplary role that the Honourable Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Committee, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has been playing in fostering peace and tranquility in Nigeria Sports, without which recent success would not have been possible.
“Executive Committee also praised Almighty God for sparing the life of Chairman of Technical Sub-Committee, Barrister Chris Green, who was involved in a serious auto accident in March while on official duty.”
In attendance were Aminu Maigari (President), Mike Uneh (1st Vice President), Emeka Inyama (Member), Ahmad Muazu Kawu (Member), Dilichukwu Onyedinma (Member), Christopher Green (Member), Ayodeji Tinubu (Member), Shehu Adamu (Member), Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande (Member), Yusuf Ahmed Fresh (Member), Felix Anyansi-Agwu (Member), Musa Amadu (Secretary).
Effiong Johnson (Member), Muazu Suleyman (Member) and Olaleye Adepoju (Member) were said to be unavoidably absent.
