Newcastle to sack Ameobi, 12 others

His only strike this season came in the club’s Capital One Cup win over Morecambe

Nigerian international, Shola Ameobi, and 12 other players are close to the exit door at Newcastle United when the summer transfer window opens in May.
Ameobi last scored a league goal in December 2012.
His only strike this season came in the club’s Capital One Cup win over Morecambe.
Reports have it that the Magpies manager, Alan Pardew, is having some reservations about the 32-year-old striker as there could be a mass exodus from Newcastle this summer.
Others that have been pencilled down for the mass purge are Loic Remy, Dan Gosling, Jonas Gutierrez, Romain Amalfitano, Conor Newton, Gabby Obertan, Luuk de Jong, Mathieu Debuchy and Fab Coloccini
It also appears other French players like Ben Ara, Sylvain Marveaux and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa could join the list.
“It’s frustrating for me, but I just have to bide my time,” Ameobi stated. “I’ve loved my time in Newcastle, no more so than when I’m playing.
“I just want to help the team. When that doesn’t happen, it’s frustrating. I know the manager picks a team he thinks can win. We have to respect that as a player, but it doesn’t stop it being frustrating.
“Hopefully, I can help us in these last few games and get us as high as we can.”
