Newcastle United has joined race for West Bromwich Albion’s Brown Ideye.
The striker, who joined the Baggies this summer in a club record transfer, has failed to make an impact, but Newcastle and Sunderland have seen enough from his showings at former sides to make him a potential target.
Ideye was a prolific finisher at Dynamo Kiev, but he has not found any sort of form since arriving in the Midlands.
The jet-heeled front man has been starved of opportunities at the Hawthorns, but when put into the first-team picture he has done little to help his cause.
The Nigerian international has just two goals in his 14 appearances to date and it seems that his stay with Albion could be brief.
West Brom paid £10 million to sign Ideye this summer and, although they will probably accept that they are likely to make a loss by cashing in on him now, they would want a fee which allows them to recoup most of that money.
The Baggies are currently just above the relegation zone in the Premier League, but having appointed Tony Pulis, they are hoping to start climbing the table.
They seem to feel that by selling Ideye they will be able to raise some funds to provide their new manager with the money to bring in his transfer targets over this month, and it could also allow them to keep hold of in-demand forward, Saido Berahino.
