Newcastle are reportedly planning a January move for Genk defender, Wilfred Ndidi, with the Nigeria international valued at around £8 million.
Sources in Belgium are claiming the Magpies have scouted the 19-year-old on numerous occasions this season.
Hamburg reportedly had a £5 million approach for Ndidi, which he rejected in the summer, but Genk are said to be willing to do business in January.
Tottenham and Watford were also said to be looking at the versatile centre-back, who can also operate at full-back and in midfield.
Ndidi has six caps for Nigeria, but the teenager will soon be eligible for a Belgian passport.
Newcastle will have money to spend in January as Rafael Benitez’s side seek to solidify their position at the top of the Championship table in their bid to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
