A new Commandant, Adam Imam has assumed duty at the Akwa Ibom Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

A statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Friday Ekerete, Tuesday in Uyo, the State’s capital said Imam took over from Suleiman Mafara who was deployed to National Headquarters, Abuja.

The new Commandant worked in different commands across the country, before his posting to Akwa Ibom.

He holds a PhD in International Relations from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Imam commended his predecessor for his valuable contributions and service to the growth of the command.

He pledged to reposition the Command for effective service delivery and urged officers and men to bring fresh zeal and vigour to actualise the mandate of the corps.

“I need your support to succeed and justify the confidence reposed in us by the Federal Government and Nigerians,” Imam added.

The new NSCDC Commandant pledged to work in collaboration with other security agencies in the state to ensure adequate protection of government critical infrastructure.

Imam who is the 14th Commandant of the NSCDC in the State appealed for useful information and support from members of the public to effectively tackle crime and criminalities across the state.
