New CP reports for duty in Enugu, promises to fight crimes

Mohammed Aliyu has reported in Enugu State Police Headquarters as the state’s new Commissioner of Police.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the new commissioner assured the residents of the state of effective fight against crimes.

In a statement by Ndukwe on Thursday in Enugu, he recalled  that Aliyu is the 24th commissioner of police since the creation of the state.

He said that Aliyu would take over from Ahmad Abdurrahman, the outgoing Commissioner of Police in the state.

He also said that Abdulrrahman would be proceeding to National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru-Jos, Plateau on Executive Management Course.

“CP Aliyu is from Dafa in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“He is a graduate of Political Science from the prestigious Bayero University Kano; attended several career and professional courses both within and outside the country.

”He enlisted into the Nigeria Police in 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has served in different commands, formations and Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“He has served as Deputy Commissioner, Federal Operations; and the pioneer Disaster Management Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja; Commissioner of Police in Borno Command; and until his deployment to the command, he was the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command of the Force’’.

He said that the new commissioner had assured the public of his commitment to foster the best policing practices to rid the state of acts of crime and criminality.

“I enjoin residents of Enugu to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive to make this goal a reality,’’ he said.
