For giving employment to his wife and three children in the National Examinations Council, a civil society group under the auspices of Vanguard for Justice and Good Governance has called on the Federal Government to suspend the Director, Human Resources of NECO, Alhaji Inuwa Audu Fuka.
In a statement titled: “An Attempt to Manipulate Justice in NECO,” and made available to journalists in Minna, Niger State, the group called on the Federal Government not to spare any of the actors involved in the allegations of financial mismanagement and irregular recruitment of staff in the Council.
The group said; ‘could it be that the Federal Ministry of Education is deliberately waving Mr. Fuka’s suspension to cover up his own part in the imbroglio or to perpetrate shoddy deals during the course of investigation?”
The National President of the group, Mallam Salihu Ahmed, said in the statement: “Inuwa Audu Fuka who is now the Director, General Duties is one of the principal actors who was queried along those suspended and recommended for investigation.”
It should be recalled that the Registrar of NECO, Prof Charles Uwakwe, and two Deputy Directors in charge of Finance and Account and Procurement, were suspended over alleged financial mismanagement and irregular recruitment of staff.
Uwakwe was accused of awarding N25 billion contract without following due process.
The group further said: “Fuka who gave employment letters to his wife and three children into NECO was conspicuously and curiously exempted from suspension.
“Why was he not suspended alongside others? He coordinated the 2017 recruitment exercise as evident in his signature on the appointment letters.
“He supervised the documentation of all recruited staffs, and we gathered that he offered his wife and three of his children appointment.”
While calling on the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, to be fair in the investigation and shun any attempt to manipulate justice, the group said: “Fuka should be suspended while investigation is ongoing.”
