The Plateau State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has promised to champion a comprehensive drug free nation.
It said this would be achieved by transforming the agency into a proactive and intelligence-led one.
The Agency has also graduated 255 senior officers in Basic Course 14 for 2015, with 43 women to reduce the spread of violence in some parts of the country, which has led to loss of lives and damage to property and rising number of displaced persons.
The Director General/Secretary of the National Drug Law enforcement Agency, Roli Bode-George, disclosed this during the passing out parade of the senior officers at the RADC parade Ground, Katon Rikkos, Jos, Plateau State.
Bode-George said drugs consumption poses serious threat to national security and “we must rise up to the challenge because of the role of drugs in crime”.
According to her, the agency has recorded spectacular arrests and drug seizures at this electioneering period, which she considered as part of contributions towards eradicating drugs from the country.
Bode-George noted that as a country, the agency shall continue to carry out enlightenment campaigns on the dangers of the drug use and violence as we emphasize the fact that drug addition is treatable.
She urged the fresh graduants to imbibe the spirit of enthusiasm with significant impact on “our operations as you all are being commissioned into the agency”.
She added: “l am optimistic that you will make the country proud by going the extra mile in eradicating narcotics drugs from our society.”
