Wilfred Ndidi has played a key role in convincing Kelechi Iheanacho to pick Leicester City over West Ham United, according to reports.
City are closing in on the £25 million signing of Iheanacho from Manchester City and reports in Nigeria state that City midfielder Ndidi’s close friendship with the 20-year-old striker has been crucial.
Both are young Nigeria international teammates and Ndidi has personally convinced Iheanacho to join Craig Shakespeare’s squad.
City also have a third Nigeria international, Ahmed Musa, on their books.
City are hoping to complete the deal to sign Iheanacho in the coming weeks and while there is a willingness on all sides to do the deal there are still some issues that have to be ironed out.
City are hoping they can do so ahead of the Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.
