NDE charges states to embrace scheme for employment

The Director General of National Directorate of Employment, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, has called on state governments to take advantage of the Graduate Coaching Scheme of the agency to expand the employment opportunities for specialised graduates with teaching skills.
Mohammed made the call at the flag-off ceremony of the GCS in Minna, the Niger State capital, saying that the agency has established three centres in each of the senatorial zones of the 20 states and the FCT, even as a successful implementation in other 16 states of the federation.
Abubakar stated that Niger State has the following centres as Bida, Lapai, Mokwa, Minna, Kagara and Suleja as well as Kontagora, Zungeru and New-Bussa, explaining that the approach was to combine the delivery of the primary objective of providing employment for the unemployed graduates as well build a strong foundation aimed at guaranteeing secondary school students a more permanent employment opportunity in the future.
The Niger State Coordinator of the NDE, Mallam Abdullahi Babaminin Mohammed, stated that the programme has taken off in the three centres of each of the three senatorial zones across the 22 states and the FCT this year.
He said this marked the commencement of the nationwide expansion of the scheme following a successful pilot programme in 16 states earlier in 2013.
