The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, Department of State Service, Lawal Daura with immediate effect.
This information is contained in a statement issued by the acting President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Daura, who was summoned to the presidential villa by the acting president few minutes before his sack, was directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the DSS until further notice.
The statement read: “The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura, with immediate effect.
“Mr Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.’’
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that no reason was given for the termination of the appointment of the DSS boss.
NAN, however, learnt that the termination of Daura’s appointment might not be unconnected with the ongoing blockage of the National Assembly by operatives of the DSS and the police.
