The Lagos State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has apprehended a Lebanese for recruiting Nigerian women for labour and sexual exploitation in his home country.
This comes on the heals of the recently celebrated rescue and return of Omolola Ajayi, who had been falsely recruited as an English teacher, only to be exploited as a domestic servant in Lebanon.
The NAPTIP Lagos Command also busted a baby sale racket on January, 30, 2020, the same day the Lebanese was apprehended.
One of the suspected baby sellers involved in the racket was also arrested.
As part of efforts to educate Nigerians on these criminal activities and the attendant effect of such crimes on Nigeria, NAPTIP will be addressing the press on February 4, 2020 at the International Organization for Migration Conference Room, 1, Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos from 10am.
The Commander, NAPTIP Lagos, Daniel Atokolo, will be on hand to speak to the facts of the case.
The conference will also feature a moderated question and answer session with the Commander and the suspected traffickers.
