The Commissioner, Ogun State Police Command, CP Frank Mba, has led the operation that led to the restoration of normalcy in Sagamu area of the state.
The Eagle Online recalls that protesters had earlier in the day burnt two banks in the area in the early hours of Monday.
They were protesting the Naira swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, which had led to scarcity of cash.
According to the spokesman of the Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, complete normalcy had been restored in Sagamu following the intervention of the police team led by Mba.
Oyeyemi said: “Normalcy has been restored in greater parts of Sagamu now.
“CP Frank Mba is personally leading police teams and some military men to tackle the situation.
“Complete normalcy has been restored in Shagamu, not less than 30 suspects have been arrested so far and they have been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments on the order of the Commissioner of Police CP Frank Mba.
“Meanwhile, a combined team of Policemen and military men are on ground to monitor the situation.”
