The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company on Thursday said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause of a fire that occurred on Wednesday at its complex at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
No fewer than three administrative offices of airlines and cargo agents were affected by the fire incident, leading to destruction of office equipment.
The Manager of Communications and Corporate Services of NAHCO, Tayo Ajakaye, said in a statement in Ikeja that the affected companies had been relocated while investigations were underway to unravel the cause of the fire.
Ajakaye said the companies had been relocated to enable them continue with their normal business activities.
He said: “There was no loss of life during the fire incident, which was quickly put out.
“The cause of the fire is yet to be determined as Federal and State authorities have started investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.”
The manager commended the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency for responding promptly and quickly to bring the fire under control.
When a NAN correspondent visited the complex on Thursday, people were seen going about their normal duties.
Some cargo agents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also commended the quick response of the fire fighters.
According to them, their intervention prevented the fire from consuming the entire building.
