I (OD/14B/2787) that barely gets my own family members to talk with me (introvert home syndrome), now reside in the Corpers Lodge 1. Ifon, Ondo State. The people there and even in the school that I teach, most people here say that I am very funny. Even nursing mothers (like a talent hidden), which is in contrast to who I was at home in Benin, Edo State. I make friends much easier. Presently an igbo girl (Lagos-based) brings me something to eat once I request every market day (no strings attached).
At times, we play football, joke, even though I refuse to learn to speak of understand the Yoruba language. We quarrel and argue in the lodge and the next morning we are pals without bias of ethnicity!
Even though I am not a Muslim, I do attend their lodge programmes and Item 7 does not disappoint any day. We make lodge contributions (monetary) regularly to fumigate ‘chikpon’, a kind of blood sucking insect. Even without having a toilet (shot put), we value this lodge more than any rented apartment around us.
My PPA mandates that I teach and the time seems like flying when I am in class as I love this task and lots more …..
I now know that “The world is truly round” for those who refuse to see things only from the point they are standing, be it academic qualification, religion, ethnicity, family nature, personal tag, professional opium and lots more!
Nigeria as a country needs this truth for it to hold on and cherish its existence before the dawn amongst its diverse culture becomes a global phenomenon! One Nigeria and longevity to the National Youth Service Corps.
