A 24-year-old man, Oladejo Iskilu, was on Friday remanded in prison by an Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo Statefor alleged murder.
The police prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, told the court that the accused murdered one Ibitayo Samuel by hitting him on the head with a pestle.
He said the accused committed the offence on January 1, 2014 at about 3am at Aje Quarters of Okeagbe, within the Akure Magisterial District.
Atanegbe said the offence was contrary to Section 316(1) and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
He, however, applied for an adjournment to enable him duplicate the case file and send to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending the receipt of legal advice.
The Magistrate, Akin Akintoye, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending the receipt of legal advice and adjourned the case to March 14 for mention.
