Following the three months quit notice issued by some Northern youths to the Igbo community in the North, members of the Mubi Emirate Council have sued for peace among all Nigerians, urging all hands to be on deck for the unity of the nation.
The Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Isa-Ahmadu, said this while receiving a delegation from Search for Common Ground in his palace.
Isa-Ahmadu commended the contributions of various Non Governmental Organisations, particularly Search for Common Ground, in its peacebuilding intervention, which he said has been long awaited.
The royal father said the involvement of traditional institutions in security matter is a sure way out of the quagmire the nation is experiencing.
Isa-Ahmadu said: “We commend your organisation’s zeal in build peace. In Mubi here, we don’t discriminate against our Igbo and Yoruba brothers.
“We believe in peace and coexistence of this grate nation.”
A member of Mubi traditional council, Sali Bello, who is the District Head of Gyela, spoke on behalf of others and reassured of the safety of the Igbo, Yoruba and other Nigerians in their domains.
Bello said: “We thank God for the life of our Royal Father.
“He always preaches peace.
“He told us we should not discriminate against other Nigerians in our domain in the name of religion and tribe.
“I can tell you without mincing words that Mubi is safe to all Nigerians, both Igbo, and Yoruba.”
