Some youths in Mubi town of Adamawa State on Tuesday apprehended a trailer that was allegedly trying to divert government fertilisers, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
One of those who participated in apprehending the trailer, Malam Yusuf Mohammed, said the trailer was caught shortly after loading 600 bags of fertilisers from a government store along Maiha Road.
Mohammed said: “When we accosted the driver, he said he was directed to take the commodity to Gombe.
“There and then, we realised that something was wrong.
“We held the vehicle and invited the police who took the suspects and the loaded trailer to the Mubi South Police Station.”
When contacted, the state Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, confirmed the incident.
Sajoh said: “I heard about the incident and have spoken to the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi South who confirmed the development, which is still under investigation.
“We commend the vigilance of the people of Mubi.”
