The National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Tuesday advanced reasons for the prevalence of defections among politicians within the party.
Mua’zu stated this in Abuja during the inauguration of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential Campaign Organisation.
He explained that some members who left the PDP felt that they were not fairly treated.
Mu’azu however appealed to the President to consider it as a challenge ahead of the general elections.
His words: “I appeal to President Jonathan to consider it a challenge to discuss with your governors, senators, all elected officials of PDP that as members of the PDP we should not be used and dumped.
“Adhere to equity, fairness and justice; substantial membership of APC, APGA are members of our party.
“A lot of our party members have left because they have been used and dumped.
“It should not happen again.”
The Director-General of the campaign organization, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, described as ironical that in the 21st century, the opposition is presenting a septuagenarian as presidential candidate.
Ali said: “Why should Nigerians chose a leader with doubtful academic credentials?”
Ali however gave the assurance that the conduct of PDP members during the campaign will be exemplary “because we have the fear of the Almighty God”.
