Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, will serve a one-match touchline ban in Wednesday’s EFL Cup tie at home to West Ham United and has been fined £16,000 for his actions during the Premier League fixture against the same opponents last weekend.
As reported by the official FA website, Mourinho was sent to the stands in the first half of the 1-1 draw on Sunday after expressing his disapproval with referee Jon Moss’ decision to book midfielder Paul Pogba for diving.
The Portuguese was charged by the FA on Monday and accepted the accusations made against him, with his one-game ban to take place on Wednesday, meaning he will be in the dugout for the Premier League fixture away to Everton this weekend.
Mourinho, who has been involved in several disputes with referees already this season, will be looking for his side to return to winning ways tonight after they struggled to break down West Ham on Sunday.
United, who have created 163 chances in the Premier League this season, will be determined to win the EFL Cup this season to at least provide them with a foundation from which they can go on to achieve greater success.
