More turbulence has hit the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress as the state Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has distanced himself from a State Executive Council meeting scheduled for Thursday (today).
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, said Alia has threatened consequences” if the meeting holds.
According to Kula, the governor has denied knowledge of the SEC meeting allegedly announced by s former state Chairman of APC, Austin Agada.
The Eagle Online recalls that there were publications on cyberspace that the meeting would be held today.
The CPS said Alia has called off the purported meeting, warning that there will be consequences if any person or group attempts to disrupt the peace of the state by converging for any unauthorised meeting.
Kula quoted Governor Alia as having said: “The last time I checked, I am still the APC leader in the state.
“No APC meeting can be summoned without my knowledge.

“Not just that, as the Chief Security Officer in the state, I should know when a legitimate gathering is supposed to hold.
“Nigeria is not a lawless state and so is Benue State.
“Those who think they can undermine the authority of the state must know this and know peace.”
There has been a division in the APC since the emergence of Alia as governor, leading to the sack of the erstwhile chairman.
