Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, who was kidnapped on Friday afternoon, has been freed by his kidnappers.
But this was not without paying a ransom.
According to a report by French news agency, AFP, Monguno was released late on Friday.
His son, Abubakar, told the AFP: “The abductors got in touch and they put my father through on the phone.
“He spoke to us and said that he was fine.
“They made a ransom demand.”
However, the ransom demanded was not specified.
No one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, carried out in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Monguno was kidnapped shortly after the prayer session on Friday inside the mosque.
He was reported to have stayed behind to exchange pleasantries with a few people and was kidnapped in the process.
