Monarch wants 40% of IGR used for development of local communities

A monarch, the Esu Karu of Karu, Nassarawa State, Luka Payan-Baba on Sunday called on government at all levels to use 40 per cent of Internally Generated Revenue  to develop the community the money is generated from.
The Royal Father made the call at the Karu Local Government Area when  he received Labaran Maku, the Nasarawa State Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Payan-Baba, who is the Chairman of Karu Traditional Council advocated that governments should encourage communities where IGR were generated by using part of it to improve infrastructure in the area.
He also commended the Umaru Al-Makura-led governmebt and previous administrations in Nasarawa State for constructing network of roads, building an international market and other infrastructure in Karu.
The Royal Father appealed to the state government to do more in the area, given its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He pledged to continue to work with the state government to ensure sustainable peace, unity and development of the area.

Earlier, Maku told the monarch that the visit was to inform him of his ambition and to seek royal blessing.
He promised to work closely with the traditional rulers to sustain and restore peace in the state if elected the next governor of the state.
