The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two armed robbery suspects by a mob in Rimi village, Sumaila Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday.
Haruna-Kiyawa said the police had received a distress call from Rimi Village that a mob had killed two armed robbery suspects by setting them ablaze while one escaped.
“From the information at hand, the suspects met their waterloo when they allegedly came to launch operations in the village,” he said.
According to him, two of the suspects were apprehended by the mob which set them on fire.
He said when the policemen arrived at the scene, they found that the suspects were burnt to ashes, adding that their remains were evacuated to a nearby hospital.
“The State Commissioner of Police, Samaila Shuaibu-Dikko, has ordered for thorough investigation into the matter,” he said.
The spokesman, however, called on people of the state to desist from taking the law into their hands.
He said the warning was necessary as the command would not condone killing of suspected criminals when arrested.
