As the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development decentralises its operations across geopolitical zones and the states in the federation, staffers of the ministry have been charged to be steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities so that the ministry’s mandate on transforming Nigeria’s agriculture becomes a huge success at all levels.
Minister of State, Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, said this in Abuja during a one-day mandatory meeting with Value Chain Team Leaders, Regional and State Directors.
The meeting, which took place at Transcorp Hilton hotel, was attended by the 36 states and six regional directors whom the Minister cautioned against any controversy with either the officials of the state governments or their host communities.
Bukar Tijani pointed out that inasmuch as there is the need for close collaboration with all stakeholders both in public and the private sector, they should also operate within the purview of their expected schedules and also be consulting concerned Units or Departments of the Ministry via weekly and monthly reports of their activities.
Speaking on the need for them to buckle up, the Minister implored them to ensure that all the value chain programmes become a major success within their stipulated deadline for the present administration to deliver on its mandate of food sufficiency and growth of the agriculture sector as well as meeting up the MDGs goals and targets of Vision 2020:20.
