A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the Nigerian Army’s claim of the Lagos State Government inviting it to restore law and order to the state following the #EndSARS protest.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had in the wake of the shooting at protesters by the Nigerian Army at the Lekki Tollgate, denied knowledge of the move and involvement of the State Government.
However, the Army, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Lagos State Government invited it to disperse the protesters.
In a tweet he shared on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode stated that the Nigerian Army’s disclosure has grave implications for Governor Sanwo-Olu.
According to him, the Lagos State Governor has been thrown under the bus by the military.
He tweeted: “The @HQNigerianArmy claim it was the LASG that asked for soldiers to be deployed at Lekki.
“The implications of this for @jidesanwoolu are grave.
“He has been thrown under the bus by the military.”
