Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel, is thought to be desperate to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, having barely had any first team action under Jose Mourinho this season.
It was gathered that the final nail in the coffin was Chelsea’s signing of Nemanja Matic from Benfica, who has been ever present in the Chelsea midfield since January.
Mikel still has three years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge but could be allowed to leave with the abundance of talent in midfield at Chelsea and Mourinho hoping to raise funds to sign a world class striker in the summer.
It was also learnt that Galatasaray will be joined by several Italian teams on the list of teams interested in Mikel should he be made available at the end of the season.
Mikel has started just nine Premier League matches this season having last completed a full 90 minutes on New Year’s Day.
