Floyd Mayweather Jr has insisted that his career in boxing is over following the 49th straight victory of his career.
The 38-year-old successfully defended his WBC and WBA welterweight titles as he defeated Andre Berto on a unanimous points decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, United States of America.
Mayweather said the fight would be his last before the contest, and following his victory, he is adamant that he will not be going back on his decision.
He said in the ring after his triumph: “My career is over, that’s official.
“You’ve got to know when to hang them up. I’m close to 40 now. There’s nothing left to prove in the sport of boxing. Now I just want to spend time with my family.”
Mayweather moved level with legend Rocky Marciano by moving to a 49-0 record.
