Floyd Mayweather has revealed he’ll begin training for a mixed martial arts fight in the near future.
Last month, the legendary boxer hinted that he’s interested in trying his hand at MMA, much to the shock of a many in the combat sports world.
Mayweather’s hints came in the form of videos on his Instagram page, which showed him entering an MMA cage and looking menacingly at the camera.
His antics led to talk of a rematch with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who he defeated in a boxing match in August.
The 41-year-old poured cold water on talk of a rematch with McGregor a few weeks after hinting at a move to the MMA world, saying: “I already beat Conor.”
However, he’s seemingly performed another U-turn by announcing that he intends to start his MMA training in the near future.
“I’ll probably need a little bit longer (than three months),” Mayweather told TMZ.
“A little bit longer. Even if it takes six to eight months, whatever it takes, we just want to make sure everything is done correctly, and everything is done the right way.
“I can wrestle. My wrestling game is not that bad.
“On a scale from one to 10, I would say it’s probably a seven.”
