Wife of the Niger state Governor, Dr. Amina Sani Bello has disclosed that there is need to stop the trend of preventable deaths across the state, sayjng that “the figures of maternal, child mortality and morbidity are unacceptable”.
She said on over the weekend as part of activities to officially flag off the 2019 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health week in the state that there is the need to out interventions to bridge the gap.
She said: “it is high time we stop this trend of preventable deaths by wholly embracing government’s interventions.
“The maternal, child mortality and morbidity figures of our country are unacceptable. All hands myst be on deck to ensure that morbidity and mortality are grossly reduced in this part of the world.”
While calling on all wimen groups, traditional and religious institutions to continue to promote the benefits of primary health care, she disclosed that the government will fully support the Ministry of Health in organizing the 2019 MNCHW.
Bello said: “In a renewed order, a coordinated and integrated approach to delivering free high impact health interventions which is vital towards improving the health of pregnant women, women of child bearing age as well as children under the ages of five will get greater attention.”
