The management of Sunshine Stars and Dolphins of Port Harcourt have vowed to appeal the verdict of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation on the alleged match fixing scandal.
In the verdict of the NFF, Sunshine FC was fined N20 million, Dolphins to pay N10 million while Referees and officials of clubs involved in the scandal were slammed with five years ban.
Speaking with The Eagle Online, a board member of Sunshine Stars and retired FIFA referee, Elder Dickson Adejube, said that the club will definitely appeal the verdict.
Adejube said: “We have not received official letter to the effect that we were fined. Once we get the letter we will surely appeal. It is sad that the chairman of the committee had earlier exonorated Sunshine Stars of any involvment.”
Also on Thursday, the management of Dolphins, through its spokesman, China Acheru, reacted to the ruling of the NFF disciplinary committee on the match fixing case between Lobi stars and Sunshine stars.
“The case has nothing to do with Dolphins and we do not have a hand in whatever transpired in Bauchi,” the statement read.
It added: “We will certainly appeal the decision in due time because we do not accept the ruling in its entirety.
“We are talking reputation here and we will stop at nothing to ensure our dignity and reputation is restored.”
