Left-over Super Eagles’ striker, Obafemi Martins, ran away with Major Soccer League Week 11’s Goal of the Week award.
Martins was voted the clear winner of this week’s honour for his sensational strike in the Sounders’ 1-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes this past Saturday, blowing out the competition by earning more than 81 per cent of the vote.
The Nigerian forward scored eight minutes into the match by floating a shot from a near-impossible angle into the back of the net, leaving Earthquakes goalkeeper, Jon Busch, and many others at CenturyLink Field in disbelief.
The award is Martins’ third of the season.
He also won it back in Week 7 and Week 8, and he currently leads all players in Goal of the Week awards this year.
