The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command has arrested a man whose stock in trade is to propose marriage to women and later defraud them.
The suspect, Ajibade Oluwafemi, has been discovered to have defrauded two women in Ondo and Kogi States.
But the NSCDC officials, who are investigating him, believe that the lover boy must have taken to the cleaners many naive and unsuspecting women.
Oluwafemi, said to be blessed with sugar coated mouth, even deceived the commandant of the NSCDC, who fell for his lies and granted him bail for defrauding one of the women.
But after his bail, Oluwafemi went to dupe another of his lover, hoping to use the money to refund the first victim.
He was said to have collected N850,000 from the widow under the pretence that he was going to marry her.
He also proposed to another woman in Kogi State.
But both women did not know that Oluwafemi was already married.
The first, a widow, Yemi, residing in Ondo State, said she met the suspect via internet and thought she had found Mr. Right.
Yemi said she fell in love with Oluwafemi, unaware that the information he gave about himself on the internet were false.
When he proposed marriage to her, she told him that they needed to meet.
Yemi said: “I met him on one of these social media networks. He introduced himself as Femi. His name on Facebook is Prince Omopariola Peter Adekunle. He said he wanted to marry me. I told him to come to Akure because marriage was not something one discusses on internet. He said he was serious and wanted to meet my people. He told me that he lives in Abuja and had a networking job that he does. He came to Akure, I introduced him to my mother. He told my mother that his mum works in Texas, USA and his father worked in Chevron.
“He said that his father was a son of the present king of Ijero Ekiti, in Ekiti State. He told my mum that he wanted us to marry by August this year.”
According to Yemi, as the relationship grew, whenever Oluwafemi was in Akure, he would stay with her.
It was through that closeness that he got to know about her bank account information.
He suddenly started asking and borrowing money from her until it got to N850,000 for a fake building project at Abuja.
He also borrowed N700,000, which he said he wanted to add to money with him to buy a car.
When Yemi called the supposed king that the suspect claimed was his grandfather, the king, whose number she got from his Facebook account, told her that he did not have any grown up grandson.
After that, Oluwafemi disappeared, but was finally traced and arrested by the NSCDC.
After the NSCDC granted him bail to go to Abuja to raise money to refund Yemi, Oluwafemi went to his second victim in Kogi State.
He told the woman that he wanted them to fast track their wedding plan.
She took him to her brother who happened to be a reverend father.
When Oluwafemi overheard the reverend’s conversation with somebody that he wanted to sell his car for a new one, Oluwafemi, who claimed to be a car dealer, said he could easily do it for the reverend.
Immediately he took the car, he disappeared.
It was after his second arrest that the car particulars were found on him and the reverend invited by the NSCDC officials.
