A 22-year-old man, Mohammed Olaitan, on Friday appeared at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly raping a 19-year-old lady.
Olaitan, whose address was not provided in court, faces a two-count charge of rape and sexual assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Akpan Nkem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 14, at about 1:34 p.m., at No. 2, Anuoluwa Street Akojeun, Ajara in Badagry.
The prosecutor said that the defendant unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the girl without her consent.
He said: “The defendant forcefully penetrated the girl’s private parts without her consent.”
Nkem said that the offences contravened Sections 168 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The chief magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until August 21, for mention.
