A 20-year-old man, Umar Muhammad, has committed suicide in Khandahar quarters of Hadejia Local Government Area, Jigawa.
The Police Spokesman in the state, SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Dutse on Monday.
Jinjiri said the corpse of the deceased was found on Sunday at about 6 p.m., hanged to a tree near a river in Hadejia.
He said: “On March 11, the Police in Hadejia LGA received a report that that a hanged corpse was found by the river side in Hadejia town at about 6 p.m.
“Upon investigation, the Police discovered that the corpse was that of 20-year-old Umar Mohammed of Khandahar quarters.
“The corpse was taken to hospital for confirmation and later released to the family for burial.”
He said investigation into the case has commenced to uncover the circumstances behind the death of the deceased.
