Emmanuel Isaiah, who allegedly stole an iPad worth N80,000 from a church in Lagos, was on Thursday charged before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.
A resident of 29, Okunbor Street, Warri, Delta State, Isaiah, 30, is being tried for theft.
Corporal Adekemi Adeniran, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 2 at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ojota, Lagos.
Adeniran alleged that the accused stole the iPad from a member of the church, Chika Kalu.
According to Adeniran, the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Isaiah pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Section 285 prescribes three years imprisonment for offenders.
The Chief Magistrate, Omolade Awope, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned to April 16 for mention.
