A 24-year-old, Chinedu Eze, who allegedly attempted to kidnap a seven-year-old girl, was on Friday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The police are prosecuting the accused for a charge of attempted kidnap.
Prosecutor Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 26 at 3.00 p.m. at No. 24, Lasi Street, Kudehinbu in Ijegun, a Lagos suburb.
According to her, the accused attempted to kidnap a seven-year-old (name withheld).
The offence contravened Section 2 of the Kidnapping (Prohibitions) Laws of Lagos State, 2017.
Eze, however, pleaded not guilty the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum, one of who must own a landed property.
Further hearing has been fixed for March 17.
