We often complain about “not having enough time”. it has become a common excuse for leaving things undone or not pursuing our passions. Yet when it comes to time, we all have been given an equal share, but it is up to you to decide how to use it. Which then begs the question: what are you doing with the time you have been given?
A lot of us set out with a list of goals to be achieved at the beginning of the year, and we begin to run with it, but halfway into the year, we lose steam. With just a few months to the end of the year, how is it going for you?
Are you one of those who try to make up for lost time by going into a frenzy the last few months of the year to achieve what they couldn’t achieve the better part of the year?
I think the reason we don’t achieve most of our yearly goals is because we think we have time…and before we know it, the year is over. With the barrage of motivational speeches and seminars at the beginning of the year, we are feeling all pumped up, like we can walk on water, and so we go ahead to set goals that are not very realistic.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for aiming high and all that, but I believe in small steps and processes. It’s ok to have a big goal as a long-term plan, then break it down into smaller goals that can be achieved daily, weekly, monthly until the final goal is achieved.
So instead of trying to fly today, why don’t you focus on getting to the next step on the ladder. This helps with focus, keeps you motivated, and saves time. Especially since you need to be spending your time on other things as well.
Life is not all about chasing dreams and achieving goals, you need to make time for your family, friends and even yourself. The best way to appreciate time is to make memories.
