The boss of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaj Aminu Maigari, has expressed optimism that the Golden Eaglets would eventually win the ongoing FIFA U- 17 World Cup.
An elated Maigari told The Eagle Online shortly after the Eaglets’ 4-1 whitewash of resilient Iran that the Golden Eaglets has been told what they stand to gain worldwide if they could win the competition.
He said: “Nigerians should expect the best from the Golden Eaglets at this FIFA U- 17 World Cup.
“We are full of hopes of getting to the final of this tournament and eventually win the tournament.
“We are anxiously praying for our team to bring the trophy back home by the grace of Almighty Allah (God).
“This is all about commitment, dedication and all football stakeholders in the country have supported this team likewise other national teams in the country.
“The only way we can all smile is to continue to excel in all our competitions.
“I am using this opportunity to say a big thank you to the players and their coaches for what they have achieved so far in this competition.
“They have worked so hard to get to the quarter-final stage of this completion.”
