Lobi Stars FC Club of Makurdi would take on Nasarawa United FC of Lafia in a Charity Match to raise funds for the Benue Flood victims as part of their support to the state government’s efforts.
Vice chairman of Lobi Stars FC, Mike Idoko told the News Agency of Nigeria, that the teams condoled with the victims of the flood across the state, hence reason for the charity match to raise fund to assist them.
He called on the people of the state to show their love and support to the flood victims by trooping to the Aper Aku stadium on Wednesday for the cracker.
Idoko commended the state government for the financial and moral support to the club.
He thanked the teeming fans for their unprecedented support, especially in the ongoing season, saying that the management has raised a strong team in less than two years.
Idoko said that the team was getting better and more formidable, thereby giving hope of glorious days ahead.
According to him, the management considers the team’s current sixth position as a respectable place in view of the high level of competitiveness among the 20 elite teams in the country.
Idoko, however, disclosed that some players of the club have been invited to the national team.
He said Tony Okpotu has also equaled the 18 goals mark and is currently the joint top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Idoko said the team has played its way into the hearts of the Benue people and the fans were back at the stands.
