Thomas Muller has been the latest name linked to a Premier League transfer as three of England’s giants look to strengthen their squads ahead of next season’s title battle.
Manchester United have been touted as favourites to add the Bayern Munich and Germany star to their faltering squad but with uncertainty still looming over the vacant manager’s position, Liverpool and Arsenal have now thrown their hats into the ring.
Liverpool’s well documented title slip-up will no doubt cause Brendan Rodgers to re-structure his leaky defence but Muller would add much needed strength in-depth to an attack that will look to score its 100th Premier League goal of the season on Sunday.
Meanwhile, having only possessed one obvious centre forward all year, Arsene Wenger would be delighted to add another forward to make it a German trio in his attacking line-up with Mesut Ozil and Luksa Podolski.
Muller has enjoyed another good season playing for the German champions, scoring 20 goals in 47 appearances for club and country.
However, the signing of Robert Lewandowski with the promise of more to come after Real Madrid’s demolition of Pep Guardiola’s side may cause the 24-year-old to question his future at the Allianz Arena.
And many will be taking a keen interest on Muller’s contribution to Germany’s World Cup campaign, particularly after he starred in their convincing win over England in the 2010 showdown in South Africa at the tender age of 20.
